Parallel in message between Christianity and Islam

I know, surprise surprise. It really isn’t headline news that themes in Christianity exist in Islam and vice versa. Still, I thought this was interesting.

“So, if they believe in the same as you believe in, then they have been rightly guided; but if they turn away, they are only in dissension, and Allah will be sufficient for you against them. And He is the Hearing, the Knowing.” (Surah 2:137)

Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” (John 14:6, NIV)

Sorry I don’t know how to cite the Qur’an that well… still.

What can be said about this (the passage in Surah 2)? The Muslim is told that if others think and believe the same thing (Allah) as they do, then they believe in the truth. Otherwise, they oppose the truth, and Allah will be sufficient against them. How narcissistic and ungrounded can this book be? i suppose 90%+ of the children living over here are just in ‘dissension’ or something against the truth, which conveniently is also your opinion about god? Also, Allah is portrayed as a sort of weapon to use by humans. Allah will be there for you, to fight against those who think differently than you.

This stuff simply reeks with its potential to brainwash and indoctrinate anyone unfortunate enough to live in the culture that overwhelmingly supports it. Stuff like this literally leaves me aghast. So many people. So many completely blinded to the universe that lies behind the lens of a telescope. So many who will fight over that which is futile, shortsighted and empty.

None are more hopelessly enslaved than they who falsely believe they are free.
